Today is the first day of sign-ups for summer reading, and we’ve got adventure-packed programs and activities for all ages!
Be sure to be at the City Bobcat Youth Soccer Field at 8:30 am on Monday, June 3, when we kick off the summer with a visit from a hot air balloon! You’ll get to see it up-close-and-personal and watch it inflate.
Mondays at 1 pm, we will have Adventures on Stage at Berryville High School’s Performing Arts Center. Performers and guests will include Will Hill telling Native American tales of high adventure, Animalogy with a menagerie of adventurous animals, Matt Sandback and his shadow puppets, Opera in the Ozarks with a special version of Cinderella, and the Amazeum with a hands-on amusement park adventure!
On Wednesdays at 1 pm, we’ll alternate between adventures in a park and an ArtVenture at the library. Arkansas Game and Fish will be here for most of our park adventures to share lessons in archery, stream quality and critters, and the skins, skulls, and tracks of Arkansas wildlife. ArtVentures will kick off with “Winding Through the Ozarks,” a special presentation by the Shiloh Museum, which focuses on a little bit of history about the Civil Conservation Corps in Arkansas and a lot on the art of weaving. Other ArtVentures planned for this summer include sand art, sewing, and sculpting.
Our regular programming—Tuesday morning Playtimes, Wednesday afternoon Creation Stations and LEGO Clubs, Thursday morning Storytimes—will also continue. Likewise, we’ll still be hosting our monthly Take & Make craft program for adults, book clubs for all ages, game nights, and bimonthly Write On! writing club.
For free family fun, we’re going to have a special Interactive Movie Night featuring Jurassic Park on June 15 and a Dive-In Movie Night at the City Pool on July 20 featuring Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle.
We hope you join us in making this a summer of adventure and we hope you stop by the library soon! You can also read more here on our website about the summer program.
You can also go on a self-paced reading adventure and track your reading for prizes. There are challenges for all ages. Be sure to tally all your reading starting as soon as you sign up! You have until July 26 to report your hours and claim your prizes!
What programs are you looking forward to the most this year? What’s your goal for summer reading? What adventures do you hope to have this summer? Tell us in the comments!
