New Berryville Library Opening Delayed

As many of you may have now heard, we will not be able to open the new library on June 20, as we had originally planned. Lots is still going on over at the site but, for the most part, the construction remains on track for its completion timeline of late May or early June. However, there has been a significant delay in the manufacturing of the shelving, so it will not be installed in time for us to open in June.

We will be announcing the new grand opening date once we have a firm ship date for the shelves. We still hope to be able to open later this summer.

This was not the news we wanted to talk about today. But the shelves are definitely worth waiting for.

Last Chance To Be Part of the New Building’s Story!

Our fundraising appeal postcard shows the frame going up back in October

Next summer, we should be moving into our new library. It’s an exciting time for us, but our work is not quite done!

We have raised all the money we need to build the building, but we still need to raise money for furnishings.

All I Want for Christmas is a Bake Sale!

A big thank you to everyone who participated in our Easy as Pie Thanksgiving Pie Pickup Sale last week! Our volunteer bakers made over 50 pies–including enough for extras for us to sell in the library–and we had raised over $1,100 before the sale even started. Thanks so much to our bakers and buyers, as well as our volunteers who helped call bakers, broker pie sales, assemble boxes, design flyers, and more.

But wait there’s more . . . baked goods! We have our annual Christmas bake sale coming up on the 2nd Friday of December, like always. Last month, pies were the stars of the show. This month, it’s a little bit of everything taking center stage.

Can You Judge a Book By Its Cover?–Summer Reading Findings

We asked our patrons who participated in summer reading if you can truly judge a book by its cover. A handful of researchers submitted their findings, which we have duly analyzed and are now sharing. It was a very scientific study–or not–but we had fun with it. We hope you do too!

Mark Your Calendars–Next Book Tasting on June 30!

The book tasting we hosted back in February, pictured above, was a big hit. We had 11 people attend our first adult book tasting at the library (we had previously hosted one for teens several years ago), and since it was so popular, we are bringing it back for the summer!
