Library Grand Opening Date Set!

We are very pleased and excited to be able to announce that the new library will be opening Friday, August 7! We will be hosting a grand opening celebration that day from 10 am to 2 pm–more on that soon–and can’t wait to welcome you into our beautiful new home!

In the meantime, we are open at our current location through this Wednesday, July 15. Read more for an FAQ on what to expect during the move.

How long will you be closed for the move?

The library will be closed from July 16 to August 6. You can follow our progress here on the blog and on our Facebook page.

Who is moving the library?

The staff and volunteers.

Will there be any library events held during the move?

We will be doing limited off-site programming at this time.

We will host our last summer Monday Matinee at the Performing Arts Center on July 20 at 1 pm. It will be Opera in the Ozarks performing Monkey See, Monkey Do.

We will also host a special afternoon outside storytime every Thursday at 4 pm at the Farmers Market with Miss Jen for the rest of July.

Can I still check out books and movies before July 15?

Absolutely, and we are encouraging people to stock up! The less there is in the library, the less we have to move. 😉

At this point, you cannot place holds on items in the Berryville collection or have holds from our other libraries sent to Berryville. However, you are free to come in and check out our books, DVDs, audiobooks, etc.

What if I want something from one of the other libraries before you close?

You can pick up items from the other libraries in person or have them send holds for you to another library in the system. So, if you see something you want that is in Eureka Springs, but you live closer to Green Forest, you can place a hold on a Eureka Springs item and have it sent to Green Forest for you to pick it up there. And the reverse is true as well. You could also call Eureka Springs and just ask them to hold it for you there.

When will my items be due?

Everything checked out from Berryville since late June will be due August 15, over a week after we reopen. You do not have to worry about fines accumulating during that time either. Enjoy having the extra time with your checkouts!

Can I return my items while the library is closed?

You will not be able to return items to Berryville. Since the items will not be due until after we reopen, you can just hang onto everything until we reopen. If you do not want to do that, you can return them to one of our sister libraries–Eureka Springs, Green Forest, Huntsville, Kingston, or St. Paul. Our CAMALS library system will hold onto any of our items that are returned until right before we reopen.

How can I access library services during the closure?

Please visit our sister libraries in Eureka Springs, Green Forest, Huntsville, Kingston, and St. Paul. They can help you with computer and Wifi access, printing, faxing, copying, notary services, etc.

You can also check out books, movies, audiobooks, etc., from their branches. As mentioned above, you can also continue to place holds on items through them during the move. Just remember that Berryville items will not be available and we will not be accessible as a pickup location.

You can also use our digital collection without ever leaving home. We provide these services 24/7, and this is the perfect opportunity to try them if you never have before.

We provide Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy. Libby offers both ebooks and audiobooks, while Hoopla has everything from ebooks and audiobooks to comic books and TV shows and movies. We have temporarily increased the amount you can check out on Hoopla to 7 per month. Kanopy, meanwhile, offers TV shows, movies, and documentaries.

You can also check out our online databases.

And I hope you continue to read the blog! Not only will I continue to provide updates on the move and regular content during the closure, but we have 10 years’ worth of book, movie, and TV show reviews and suggestions compiled here. You can find recommendations that you can hold from one of the other libraries or add to your to-read/to-watch list for when we reopen.

You can also continue to read for summer reading. Ask at the desk or call at 870-423-2323 for more information!
