Readers vs. Movers: 2026 Summer Reading

Summer reading will look a little different this year as we prepare to transition to our new building, but we are excited to present a very special Readers vs. Movers challenge!

You can learn more details at our Summer Reading page, but participating in summer reading has never been easier.

Signing up is simple and quick this year. Just stop by the library and pick up your summer reading packet–they are available now!–for yourself and for everyone you know who wants to participate. Take as many as you need.

It’s the same packet for everyone regardless of age and includes a simple instructional booklet and a Reading Tracker Bookmark.

Then set a goal for how many books you want to read between May 18 and July 10, no time tracking for anyone this summer. Read and record your books read on your Reading Tracker Bookmark. It is that easy!

Starting June 1, come in weekly to report your reading by showing us your Reading Tracker Bookmark.  If you don’t live around here or don’t care about prizes, you can call or email in your reading results each week.

You can report anything read from May 18 and all kinds of reading counts–audiobooks and ebooks count, as does reading to someone else. Be sure to stop by even in weeks you have not finished a book but were reading through one because you still get prizes for every week you report. You just get more rewards the weeks you can finish a book and add it to your Tracker Bookmark.  😊

Why? Because the number of books everyone finishes reading counts in our special Readers vs. Movers Challenge.  Can Berryville read as many books as the library will be moving? Only if we, as a community, come together and read (and get a little help from all our friends, no matter where you live)!

Prizes for reading will be available June 1 through July 10.

We also have a full calendar of events for June. We will be bringing in special performers for a Monday Matinee at 1 pm at the Berryville High School Performing Arts Center and going out to the Farmers’ Market for a special afternoon Storytime on Thursdays at the Berryville Community Center. At the library, we’ll host book-themed Tuesday programming, a weekly Wednesday Rally, our regular Thursday morning Storytimes, family nights almost every week in June, and a couple of Stay & Make workshops for those ages 13 and up. There is something special to read, see, and do for all ages at the library this summer!

How many books do you plan to read this summer? How many books have you read this year already? How many books do you think we are going to move later this year? Tell us in the comments!
