As many of you know, the Berryville Public Library has long needed a new building, and we have been raising money for that since 2021.
And, today, we have some very exciting news.
Nabholz, the construction manager for the new facility, will be putting the project out to bid soon, and we should have a groundbreaking for a new building sometime in the first quarter of 2025.
We are so excited, and we could never have done this without all the volunteers who have worked so hard to solicit these donations, whether it was networking with people to encourage individual gifts, stuffing envelopes for end-of-year appeals, or working booths in sometimes miserable weather to connect with community members and potential donors.
But we still need that final bit of money! We launched our end-of-year appeal campaign in mid-November still needing to raise the final $200,000.
Last week, we hosted our 2nd annual Giving Day telethon on KTHS, our local radio station. KTHS has been a fabulous partner throughout the fundraising. We even had former KTHS station manager and current Berryville Parks and Recreation director Jamie Hussey arrested as part of the fun. Callers could call in to donate money to bail him out–or keep him in.

We raised $40,000 and freed Jamie from his captivity–though maybe we should arrest Jamie more often for that kind of money–so now we’re down to needing just $160,000, or even a little more to cover unexpected costs that arise. We would love to end the year with all money raised before construction starts.
As we have long said, there is no gift too big and no gift too small.
For as little as $100, you can stick your name or the name of a loved one on a favorite book in our collection. Hint: These make wonderful Christmas gifts.
All gifts of $1,000 or more will be memorialized on a donor wall.
Gifts of $10,000 are eligible to claim one of the shelving endcaps in the new library. But you’ll need to act fast because we only have a few left! With this level of donation, you can preserve your family’s legacy or our town’s history with an image on the end of a shelving unit in the new library.
We also still have select naming opportunities available for gifts over $25,000.
You can also sign up to donate money each month on our website for the new building. Just follow the link in the previous sentence and select monthly rather than one-time, and you will then automatically donate every month. This is an easy way to make recurring donations.
Thanks so much to all of you who have volunteered, donated, and helped in any way along the way! Together, we are writing the next chapter of Berryville Library’s story!
