In the last few weeks, we have received generous donations that have allowed us to conclude fundraising for furnishings. That money assures us that we can buy the new furnishings we need for the new library and move into a beautiful and functional new library building.
To celebrate what we hope is our new forever home, the Friends have established the Berryville Library Endowment with the Carroll County Community Fund. Operating and running a much larger space will cost more money. We hope to grow this fund over time so that it can provide additional support that the library and building will need for years to come.
April 1 is National Library Giving Day and April 9 is NWA Gives. This month, please consider supporting your library by giving to the new Berryville Library Endowment at the Carroll County Community Foundation.
A very big thank you to everyone who has worked to make this dream of a new library a reality! When we embarked on this journey several years ago, a fundraising consultant told us that it would be unprecedented for a community of our size to raise $1.5 million for a new library. Due to rising construction costs, we actually ended up needing to raise over $4 million to build and furnish the new facility.
We couldn’t have done this without our generous volunteers, donors, and supporters who gave us money, baked, bought baked goods, worked very hot and humid shifts at the ice cream social, answered telethon calls, solicited potential donors, assembled mass mailers, and more.
We have 80 days before we open the new library. We will be released more information on the logistics of moving the library in the coming weeks, but let’s let that timeline sink in. We have 80 days until we can all walk into our new library that we, as a community, have built.
