The year 2025 promises to be a historic one for the Berryville Public library and, by extension, for the town of Berryville. We broke ground on the new library last week, so the library should be finished in the spring of 2026. Preparation for the new building has made us at the Berryville Library nostalgic and reflective, not just about the library’s history but also about the town’s history. Other seminal moments in Berryville Library history occurred in 1938 and 1978, so we’ll be looking back this year on what Berryville was like then, as well as what it is like now, as we also look to the future.

Groundbreaking! New Library, Here We Come!
Earlier this week, we broke ground on our new library! This moment has been years in the making! A big thank you to everyone who’s volunteered, donated, helped us spread the word, and more to help make this dream a reality. Also, a big thank you to everyone who turned out to support us on what ended up being a beautiful day, perfect for a groundbreaking ceremony.

For this entire year, every month, we’re going to look at the different features available on these databases. For this month, we’re going to focus on the genealogy resources.

Every month, we’re profiling new-ish releases that are getting critical and commercial buzz. For March, we’re looking at a re-release of Shogun, a retelling of the founding of Rome, two different novels set on remote islands, a unique science fiction novel about a science fiction novel, a new historical mystery series set in 1960s Vermont, an audiobook about a race to fly across the Pacific in the 1920s, Western true crime about Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and a chronicle of following the over 10,000-mile annual monarch butterfly migration on a bicycle.

For February, we’re looking at a historical romance set in the Blue Ridge Mountains, a fictional look at the only ruling queen of Assyria, a mystery set on a fictional Oklahoma reservation, a coming-of-age audiobook, a delectable cookbook from a Turkish-American baker, and a guide to teaching children manners in the modern age.
